Regional Action Plan - Cardiovascular Diseases Prevention and Control
As a result of a regional meeting organized by ISN in collaboration with SLANH, IFKF, and local Argentinean nephrology societies and health authorities in El Chaco, Argentina, SLANH received an invitation to participate in a PAHO sponsored workshop on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Control 2011-2016, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from June 29 to July 1st, 2010. SLANH was represented by Dr. Santos Depine, Co-Chair of SLANH's Renal Health Program. The main achievement was the recognition of the growing burden of CKD in the region, and the need for early detection in high risk populations, emphasizing socially disadvantaged populations. The outcome of the workshop reveals a list of recommendations that are set to have an impact on national health policies on non-communicable diseases in the region.
