... http://www.nature.com/isn/news/soc_announ/fullview.html?content_id=75236 Fronteras 2010 Over 150 nephrologists from across Chile and other regions of Latin America recently attended the second Fronteras 2010 symposium in Santiago from May 27 to 29, 2010 - endorsed by ISN and jointly organized by Clinica Las Condes in Santiago and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA.The outcome is set to have a long-lasting impact on the growth and quality of clinical nephrology in Chile and other Latin American countries. “The level of the conferences was outstanding as some of the speakers were able to show the results of very recent clinical trials, including unpublished studies,” explains Juan Alberto Fierro who is one of the directors of this symposium. The aims was to address recent and upcoming advances in nephrology, hypertension and transplantation. It was the second time such an event was organized and hopefully another will take place in 2013.Highlights included the results of recent trials on treating membranous nephropathy with rituximab, the trials on mTOR inhibitors and ADH inhibitors in polycystic kidney disease, advances in renovascular hypertension and the value of bortezomib in treating hyper sensitized transplant patients.
